What better time to turn over a new leaf than the start of a new growing season? For the 2018 season, Shaner Avenue Nursery has decided to get our hands dirty with blogging! After weeding out the non-writers, I was the one left holding the pen.
Our goal with these blogs is to keep our followers informed on anything and everything related to landscaping, gardening, plants, plant care, and more. After almost 43 years in business, we’d like to think that we’re an excellent source for gardening related advice. I may be the appointed writer, but the information shared will be a collaborative effort of our staff and, hopefully, you! We realize that our amazing customers have an abundance of first-hand experience and knowledge. We welcome comments and feedback on your success stories as well as your mishaps. We learn just as much, if not more, from failure as we do from success in the world of gardening. This should be a fun way to deliver the information you need to help you blossom as a gardener!
We officially open for the season on Monday, April 2nd , but you can see us at two major events before then. We’ll have a small display on the Garden Pathway at the 39th West Michigan Home & Garden Show at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids the weekend of March 1-4. There won’t be anyone staffing this display, but if you stop by, it could save you some money on purchases this spring! We will also have a booth at the 14th annual Rockford Community Expo at Rockford High School on Saturday, March 17th from 9:00-3:00. We will have people working this booth, handing out coupons, answering questions, and getting pumped about spring! There will also be a drawing to win something to plant in your yard – we just haven’t decided what it will be yet!
This is always an exciting time of year for us as we get geared up for another season! We hope you’re excited to get dirt on your knees and fresh air in your lungs! Have you started planning for your lawn and garden projects yet? Do you need help with planning? Do you have requests for topics you would like our blog to address? We’re happy to help in any way that we can!
